To get you ready for Dan Foley’s upcoming release, Abandoned, Books & Boos Press is pleased to share some of the advance praise that has been coming in:
“Dan Foley knows the hard truth: that the darkest of monsters reside within the human heart. Abandoned is just plain scary—the kind of horror that’s made all the more terrifying because it could be true.” ~ Charles R. Rutledge, co-author of Blind Shadows and Congregations of the Dead
“A deliciously macabre dark comedy that serves as a reminder of just how close we all can be to the brink of insanity.” ~ Peter N. Dudar, Bram Stoker Award-nominated author of A Requiem For Dead Flies and Where Spiders Fear to Spin (Read Peter’s full review here!)
“If the measure of a man is his mind, Dan Foley inhabits a world of horrors that is otherwise unoccupied. Abandoned grabs you from the very beginning and doesn’t let go. This one will stay with you long after the last page has been turned.” ~ John Valeri, Hartford Books Examiner
“. . . an inventive and sympathetic exploration of the extreme effects of rejection and isolation. Although there are hints of Fowles’ The Collector as well as Lindsay’s Dexter, this book is all Dan Foley. Abandoned is an exciting portrait of a man struggling to reconcile his cravings for belonging with his urges for bloody retribution. It shows . . . that Foley clearly has heart—maybe several of them—in jars on his desk.” ~ Bracken MacLeod, author of Mountain Home and Stranded

Books & Boos Press is excited to announce that Maine artist Morbideus Wolfgang Goodell has completed the initial design for the cover of Where Spiders Fear to Spin. The cover incorporates several facets of Peter N. Dudar’s novella, including the ghost story element, the overall tone of the piece, and, of course, a spider web.
“Morbideus’s design exceeded all of our hopes and expectations for the cover,” said Stacey Harris, managing editor. “He really knocked this one out of the park!”
Where Spiders Fear to Spin will debut at Anthocon in Portsmouth, NH (June 5–7, 2015). Dudar is a past Bram Stoker nominee (for A Requiem for Dead Flies), and Where Spiders Fear to Spin is his third novella. One of the characters, Abby Cunningham, is based on a real girl of the same name, who won the chance to be in Dudar’s book at a Lisbon Community School P.T.O. fundraiser. In addition, Dudar is generously donating all of his royalties to the Lisbon Community School P.T.O.
WHAT IF THE PERSON YOU WRONGED IN LIFE WAS WAITING ON THE OTHER SIDE, JUST BEYOND THE COBWEBBED VEIL OF DEATH, TO DRAG YOU TO HELL?
Books & Boos Press is pleased to announce that we will be publishing Where Spiders Fear to Spin, a novella by Bram Stoker Award-nominated author Peter N. Dudar, in 2015. As a bonus, Dudar’s short story “Peripheral Vision” will be included with the novella.
Where Spiders Fear to Spin is a dark tale of mother and daughter, caught up in a web of resentment over past wrongdoings that infects every aspect of their current lives. While these two women struggle to deal with the past and each other, a vengeful ghost comes back into their lives to set right what they cannot—and it’s not pretty. Where Spiders Fear to Spin promises to be a terrifying and compelling read.
Dudar is the author of numerous novels, novellas, and short stories, including A Requiem for Dead Flies (nominated for a Stoker in 2013), Dolly & Other Stories, and The Angel of Death. He also pens a film review column titled Me & Lil’ Stevie for cinemaknifefight.com. A resident of Lisbon Falls, Maine, Dudar is donating his proceeds for this book to the Lisbon Community School PTO.
